The Self · Privacy
Your space stays yours.
Privacy in The Self app and on our website. Here is what information keeps them working and what you control.
Updated September 14, 2026
Your journal and journey
Journal entries, answers, mood check-ins, questionnaire results, completed lessons and settings are stored on your device. We do not send them to a The Self server. No account is required. The app has no ads or advertising tracking.
Storage and deletion
You can delete individual journal entries in the app. Deleting the app together with its data removes local data; on Android you can also clear app storage in system settings. Offloading the app on iOS keeps its data. System backups and transfers to a new phone depend on your Apple or Google settings and remain under your control. We have no server copy of your journal to restore.
Reminders and images
Notification permission is requested for the local reminders you choose. You can turn them off in your profile or phone settings. To save an achievement card, the app asks for permission to add an image to Photos when required by your system. We do not read your photo library. When you tap Share, the chosen card is passed to the app you select.
Optional support
If purchases are available and you choose to support the project, Apple or Google processes payment. Our server receives the product identifier, platform and transaction ID or purchase token to verify the purchase with the store. We do not receive your card number or bank details. Verification does not need your journal or questionnaire answers. Financial records held by the store are retained under its rules.
Website and technical information
The website saves your language and theme preferences in your browser. Vercel hosts our website and purchase verification server. When you access them, the hosting provider processes your IP address and technical request details to deliver pages, operate the service and prevent abuse. The Self code has no custom request-history database or advertising analytics; infrastructure logs are retained according to hosting settings and policies. Providers may process information outside your country.
When you contact us
Emails and Telegram messages contain information you choose to send, including your address or profile and message. We use it to respond and resolve your request. Correspondence stays in our email service or Telegram for as long as needed for the request; you can ask us to delete it except information we must retain by law. Please do not send journal entries or card details unless needed for your question.
Questions and your rights
For access, correction or deletion of information you have sent the team, contact theself.app.contact@gmail.com. You control local app data on your device. Depending on your country, you may have additional rights, including contacting a data protection authority. We will update this page if our processing changes.
